“One cold shower a day, keeps the doctors away.”

Many times happens in my life that I meet a teaching way before I can applay it in my life. This is especially true to my realtionship with cold.

When we were living in New Zealand especially during wintertime on Waiheke Island I was challenged with how I adopt the colder weather. Everyone was asking to me when I was complaining “how cold it is during winter?” But it is not just about the outside temperature but the comfort level you live or you are used to.

During my life I was used to have a central heating in the house and hot showers or long baths during winter. In Waiheke Island was the first time in my life that I was living in houses without a proper insulation or heating systems.

However I learned to adapt. My body learned to adapt. I’d learned tai chi and practiced that during the winter months while I was taking long walks by the sea. Because one thing become quite clear quickly: “you must keep moving, keep doing if you don’t want to be cold.”

I’d shifted my seated meditations into a moving one, and I’d learned to breathe in a way that I was able to heat my body up.

When we moved back to Hungary, oh gush-about 8 years ago- I got used to central heating again. I enjoyed the warmth we can create in our home, just by switching on the heating.

During summer as my husband takes his cold showers I always get inspired by his attitude but only this year was I able to try myself. As we went for a holiday to Italiy I was listening an audiobook from Wim Hof, because just before we went I’d attended a conference where he was one of the speaker and I instantly got inspired by his approach.

I have been a pretty got dot connector in my life. I always loved to put the bits and pieces together. As this time I remembered our travel to Samoa where I went into that freezing cold water where the guys who invited us went into such a great ease and was telling me, “it is not so cold, come, try!” (So I did! See the smile in my face? freeeziiiing!!!! 🙂 Then I remembered the book I read by a Hungarian writer in which there was a main caracter who took cold showers each morning and said how that practice in itself changed her whole life. Then I remembered that sodier I met once who told me, having a cold shower through winter and he was able to stand the cold weater even if he only wore a T-shirt. Then I’d allowed to born the deep yearning in my heart to give it a try as Wim suggests but more then that as my husband was showing the way.

“It only takes 10 days, then your vascular system gets conditioned and used to it. Everything depends on your approach! Just decide you’ll gonna do, then just do it!”. It was easy because it was Summer and pretty hot and also I was on a holiday.

I have also been practicing Wim’s circular breathing which he claims that it can even get you out from hang over if you practice it longer. Otherwise he said: “Practice 4 circle of circular breathing also called Wim Hof’s breathing, a cold shower and then off you go! Without being sick, with more zest in your life, more stamina in your Nervous System and more aliveness!”

Who wants this for free? You don’t need to do anything just train yourself to bear cold shower for about 3 minutes every day. (As you train yourself during those ten days first about 30 seconds, next day 45 second and like this way increase the duration of time you are under the cold water. If you want support you can download Wim’s App.)

For me as a mother of a 5 year old, and a yoga practicioner for more then 15 years this is a great start of my days because since my daughter was born I did not really have either the time or the stamina to do my two hours long morning practice I was used to before having her.

Now I have found a new chalanging practice other then Ashtanga Yoga!

Question 42.

What is that one thing that if I stop doing it right now will influence positively my life?

“Arate.

It all starts with Areté. As we know, the word directly translates as “virtue” or “excellence” but has a deeper meaning—something along the lines of “expressing our highest potential.””

I have found Brian Johnson in the year of 2014. A year after my Mum died. At that moment we were living in New Zealand and I was feeling a little lost. I was teaching yoga with Peter Sanson and working part time in a health shop called Chantals. I loved my everyday life but still I felt I would like to find a bigger purpose for my life.

I always felt that teaching is one of my calling and I loved to talk with the people in the shop, and uplift them with a compliment or an inspiring quote which I wrote on the wall of the shop. There was fresh flowers, healty food and good coffee offered. Care and attention for all those who came in.

But still something was missing. So I let my creativity came alive and had designed my Art Deco Aprons because I was inspired by the spirit of Napier the “Art Deco Capital of New Zealand” and sold these beautiful handmade aprons in the shop.

But still something was missing. So one day I went home and typed into Google “What is my purpose?”. As I pushed the search button I looked up and intended that the answer I’d get would take me to my next best self.

And that is what had happened! A video came up on youtube which was recorded by Brian. It was I guess an old nokia. A picture is a bit blurry as it showed his notebook with his ideas on how to find one’s purpose in life. I instatly felt that I had found something very unique. As I was listening him the black cloud uplifted from my heart.

He proposed two questions in the end of his video, which really changed the corse of my life!

One questions was: “What is that one thing that if I start doing it right now will influence positively my life?”

With the help of this question I’d discovered how much I love writing. After I watched the video I went out and bought a beautiful notebook and on the first page I wrote this question. As a result I took a vow that I will start to fulfill one of my dream of being a published writer bit by bit, step by step by starting a blog (called 5 minutes of oasis) and write a post no longer then a few sentences about the beauty of life.

This blog set me to an inner journey of discovery. I have been writing that moment on every day. Its been a while by now and since then I self-published some of my writing. I collected from my notebook my best pieces of wisdom and published a book of quotes. Then I wrote a children’s book and a novel based on a dream I had on Waiheke Island a stormy night after we moved from Ostend to Orapiu in 2007.

Brians other question of: “What is that one thing that if I stop doing it right now will influence positively my life?” was my constant companion for years. I always find a new answer to this question.

If I need inspiration I just look up how is Brian’s doing because since I have been following him, he is walking his talking. It is amazing to see how he has been building up his empire of wisdom space. His idea was to build up a resorce of collection of great wisdom from all wisdom writer of the world. And then he made his PhilosoperNotes which was about the shortened version of books with highlighted big ideas, in a pdf and video format.

He had a website called optimize around the year of 2019 when he was offering a 300 day long apprenticeship in positive pyshology. I was at class 4 and enyojed each day of that training. Then Brian had dreamt even bigger and now he is up to pursue this dream of his. With the help of many we have established a new platform called HEROIC whic is about how can we reach the highest level of our human potential.

If you love great app-s check his one out. If you love to start your day with positiv thoughts download the app. If you are ready to take a leep in your personal development apply for a heroic training.

Get inspired and stay inspired by become a hero yourself!

Check out this beautiful offer of Brian!

See you next time, until then never fail to ask good questions!

Do I dare to go there/here?

“There was once a woman who wished to be a wise woman. She’d seeked and seeked then she’s found a guru. As the guru had accepted her, she’d started her apprenticeship in a cave. the guru gave her many books. So the woman was studiing day and night. Every week the guru checked her progress by asking a question: “Have you learned everthing what can be known yet?” but the woman’s answer was: “No.” The Guru hit her head with a stick as a feedback. This was going for weeks and weeks, and then many month went by. But nothing has changed. One day when the Guru was asking the usual question and the woman was saying her usual answer, before the Master could hit her head, she quickly grabed the stick and didn’t let be punished anymore. Then the Guru’s eyes lit up with joy and said to her, that her training is over. “You’ve learned how to stop the pain!” – the Guru said and let the woman go.”

I thank my apprenticeship with Kimberly to serendipity. I have found her by listening an interwiev with her in a For The Wild podcast. I usually listen to my insticts. I have found her talk very inspirational, her approach very different and original. So I have seeked and then I have found her website and her podcast.

Then in the beginning of September I jumped into her course called: Somatic Definitions.

I am here now. And I am fascinated by what I have been learning. Learning to develop my own somatic toolkit feels so familiar but at the same time it is filled with the experience of new discovery.

I can read my and others Nervous System more accurately now. I have got tools which help me to shift out from deep holes of negativity. Just by knowing that I have a choice and I have a map in my pocket helps me to untangle the difficulit feelings inside me. I have never been able to see this clearly in my life according to: “what to do and how to do it”.

Of course the road is still long front of me, however I hold the stick in my hand and use it as a reminder not a source of pain anymore.

Kimberly’s teachings and her many books and audiocourse with Soundstrue worth checking out. Have a look!

See you next time!
